Scout Motors Traveler and Terra Revealed with Harvester Range Extender
Scout Motors debuts off-road focused electric pickup and SUV.
Scout Motors just pulled the covers off of its two new “concepts,” the Scout Traveler SUV and the Scout Terra pickup truck. Here are some of the biggest highlights:
800-volt architecture, up to 350 kW DCFC charge rate with the on-board NACS port
Up to 350 miles of range and up to 10,000 pounds of towing (depending on vehicle and options, of course)
A starting price of $60,000 before available incentives
A range-extender option, called Harvester, to extend range up to 500 miles
The Scout Motors lineup offers a SUV and a truck that are packed with tech that looks like it comes from its partnership with Rivian. Which in the case of the modern zonal software architecture. Even visually there’s similarities between the Rivian R1S and R1T and these new Scouts to my eye. While there’s also a hint of Bronco in there too, it’s unlikely a coincidence that Scout and Rivian share some visual cues.
While both of these vehicles are technically concepts, they represent what is likely very close to what a production version will look like. Initial production is targeted for 2027.

The technical details seem to be right on the money. By the time these vehicles ship, 800-volt should be much more common and for an entirely new brand and model lineup, it needs to be there. That’s also why the NACS connector is not a surprise.
It appears that Scout is looking for more off-road capability than Rivian, saying that the Scout Motors vehicles will have front and rear lockers, a solid rear axle, and built atop a body-on-frame platform. The platform will also allow for 35-inch tires and a water fording capability of “nearly 3 feet.”
Perhaps the biggest surprise is the gasoline-powered range extender, which should help improve overall range to 500 miles, and help Scout owners go far of the beaten path.
Talking to some owners before the reveal, the range extender was an appealing option for them. Worried about charging infrastructure at their favorite fishing spot (or hunting), being able to stop at a rinky-dink gas station to get more range will give the piece of mind.
I also spoke with someone who is really into the idea of their Scout being electric. His commute back and forth to his business is approximately 60 miles round-trip, and from what he’s researched he believes he'll save a significant amount of money over fuel and is looking forward to going all-electric. Again, it a bit surprising to me because this gentleman lives in West Virginia.

I think the specs are right, and I do think it looks good even if I see a little more Rivian in it than I expected. But now that you’ve seen it, what do you think? Let me know in the comments on the web version of this post.
